NetConnect
Process and authorize payment transactions at the same high speeds
that are available for email and Internet transactions while utilizing
Paymentech’s state-of-the-art processing services. Paymentech’s
NetConnect enables merchants with Internet connectivity, such as DSL
or a LAN, and NetConnect-certified software to safely process
point-of-sale transactions via the Internet, eliminating the expense
of a dedicated line and the time consuming dial-up process.
Already have DSL, cable modem, or a LAN?
If you are currently using a DSL or cable modem service, or are
already setup on a LAN, then you are on the way to processing
transactions at Internet speeds using NetConnect. You can use your
existing high-speed technology in your store, restaurant or place of
business with NetConnect—no additional hardware is required, and if
your current software isn’t NetConnect-certified, Paymentech can help.
Industry-leading Security Advantages
Keeping your data secure is of the utmost importance and we take
security measures that go beyond standard practices. Your transactions
are transmitted with the utmost security because only Paymentech
authenticates every single transaction and requires them to be
encrypted using industry-standard SSL encryption. This gives your
transactions an additional layer of security that a typical DSL
connection doesn’t provide.

- System redundancy – Paymentech is the only
payment processor in the industry that offers processing redundancy
so you never have a business interruption. During scheduled
maintenance, processing is transparently switched to the redundant
system without disruption to our customers. If the processing system
you currently use went down, just think of the amount of money your
business would lose in credit, debit or gift card sales. You don’t
have to worry about that scenario with Paymentech as your processor.
- Load balancing – Transaction load volume is
balanced against multiple servers, and each server is sized to
accommodate the transaction load of the other in the event of an
unexpected outage.
- Disaster recovery capabilities – Because of our
disaster recovery capabilities, we know when something is wrong. We
don’t wait for our customers to alert us.
- Peak period reliability – Due to the seasonal
nature of the transaction processing business, special emphasis is
placed on preparing the systems for increased volumes during certain
times of the year. Paymentech predicts peak season loading using
sophisticated computer modeling and uses this information to make
the necessary hardware/software modifications.
Frame Relay
Frame relay is a high-speed,
efficient communication method that processes transactions very
quickly. Frame relay eliminates the time consuming and cumbersome
dial-up process so that users are continuously online. Coverage is
available in the continental U.S., Alaska and Hawaii. It supports
multiple connections and offers dial-backup support. Paymentech’s
standard TCP/IP frame relay network connectivity is the most
innovative in the industry. It has high transmission speeds, low
network delay, high connectivity and efficient bandwidth use. In
addition, the circuits and hardware are provided, maintained and
monitored by Paymentech on a 24/7 basis.
Benefits of Frame Relay
- System redundancy – Paymentech’s redundant and highly efficient
systems ensure accurate, cost-effective and timely processing of
transactions. During scheduled maintenance, processing is
transparently switched to the redundant system without disruption to
our customers.
- Fast and reliable transactions – The typical transaction speed that merchants experience ranges
between 2 and 4 seconds, depending on your choice of point of sale
(POS) device and software.
- Low cost – The entire cost
of this solution is a flat monthly fee, with a minimum commitment of
one year. There is no additional charge for installation, 24/7
monitoring or help desk availability.
- Increased revenue – Faster
processing means faster authorizations, enabling you to assist more
customers and have additional time to focus on your day-to-day
operations or strategic initiatives.
- State-of-the-art technology – Includes an ATT frame relay circuit, Cisco router, dial backup
with analog phone line
- Knowledgeable customer service – Provided around-theclock by network engineers.
POS Requirements The point of sale (POS) device or
software you chose must be certified by Paymentech to communicate
using one of the Paymentech message formats as well as TCP/IP or X.25
protocol. There are a large number of independently produced and
supported products that have already been certified to use this
communication method. Please check with your Paymentech Sales or
Account Manager to find out if the POS device or system you have is on
the approved list before considering frame relay connectivity to
Paymentech.
Paymentech can provide format and
protocol specifications, 24/7 access to the Paymentech test host, test
scripts and a dedicated certification specialist to assist any POS
provider who wishes to become certified. There is no charge to POS
system manufacturers and developers to utilize these dedicated
certification resources.
Installation Standard installation time for your
frame relay circuit is 45 to 60 days from the date Paymentech receives
your signed proposal, depending on your local carrier and it’s
scheduling. If testing or operation of mission critical systems is
necessary sooner, Paymentech can ship your Customer Premises Equipment
(CPE) kit early and provide connectivity via dial backup for initial
testing
